ZRA Annual Conference : Call for Presentations

ZRA and Calgary Zoo welcome your ideas, expertise and professional presentations for this year’s program. The Call for Presentations for the 2010 Annual Conference will open March 15, 2010 and close Friday, May 28, 2010 5:00 pm EST. Presentations are being accepted in four primary categories. Please submit your completed presentation proposal through the ZRA website. The City of Calgary, Executive Royal Inn Hotel and Conference Centre, and the Calgary Zoo welcome ZRA Annual Conference delegates.

There are four primary categories for presentations that include Record Keeping, Wildlife Permits and Legislation, Animal Transport and Records and Collection Management. Submit Your Proposal
All presentations and/or information that will be presented must be submitted in PowerPoint (versions that are Microsoft Windows or IBM compatible) so that the information can be included on the Annual Conference Proceedings DVD.Effective March 15, 2010, please use the online submission form to submit your proposal. All proposals must be submitted using this form. The deadline for submitting a proposal is Friday, May 28, 2010 5:00 pm EST. Proposals submitted after the deadline will only be considered after all other submissions have been reviewed. Based on the established format for the ZRA Annual Conference Program, presentations will be accepted in the following four categories:
Record Keeping
ZIMS, ARKS, Data Entry, Animal Transactions, Business FormsWildlife Permits and Legislation
Government Agency Topics, Permit Applications, Legislative Updates, Round TablesAnimal Transport
Land, Air, Import and Export, Brokers, TSA (security), IATA, Current IssuesRecords and Collection Management
Policies and Procedures, Standards, Accreditation, Disaster Preparedness, Biofacts, Biological Samples, Records Storage, Archives Management, Records Retention, Protection and Disposal, Electronic records (Email Management, Migration, Archiving, Meta Data).Other
If your proposal does not fall into one of the above tracks, please choose "Other" and describe your proposal's intended audience(s).Scheduling and Session Information
The ZRA Leadership Development Program, Certified Records Manager (CRM) Exam Preparation Workshop, Board meeting and the Icebreaker will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 as well as optional events for guests and other attendees. General Session proposals that are accepted are scheduled in a 30 minute time slot for individual presentations and 60 minutes for panel discussions on Thursday, September 30, 2010 and Saturday, October 2, 2010. Zoo Day will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010 and include breakfast and dinner. The Annual Business meeting will be Saturday morning from 8:00 am until 10:00 am and general sessions the rest of the day. Optional events that evening will include 5-pin bowling and shopping at a local mall. A post conference tour to Banff National Park is scheduled for Sunday, October 3, 2010.Poster Presentations
Posters are welcome and will be set up in the exhibitor area and presenters will have an opportunity to discuss their work or findings with attendees during breaks and throughout the Annual Conference. You will be directed to provide abstract information on your poster in the Proposal Submission Form; however, you must submit a Power Point presentation with your poster to ensure this information is included in the Annual Conference Proceedings.Membership and Registration Requirements for Speakers
All speakers at the Annual Conference must be registered to attend, either for the full conference or the day on which they are speaking. Registration categories and rates are determined by the membership status at the time of the Annual Conference and you have the option to join ZRA to take advantage of reduced rates. Membership status does not guarantee acceptance or rejection of a presentation.Participation in the ZRA Annual Conference by individuals from related or affiliated professional associations, the local host area or outside of the zoo or aquarium industry are encouraged. Registration for these speakers may be waived for the day. These waivers should be coordinated through the 2010 Annual Conference Program Chairman or Host.
Committee Meetings
Committee reports will be given at the Annual Business meeting on Saturday, October 2, 2010. ZRA Committees are not required to hold formal meetings at the Annual Conference. However, for ZRA committee Chairmen or other affiliated association committees such as IDMAG who would like to arrange a meeting, please contact Deanna Snell by Friday, May 28, 2010 5:00 pm EST, to schedule a time in the Board Room.Exhibitors and Sponsors

Speaker Acceptance Letter
You will receive a Speaker Acceptance letter with the day, time and title of your talk(s) and a reminder of any requirements and deadlines as a condition of your presentation being confirmed into the final program.Questions?

You will receive a Speaker Acceptance Letter if your presentation is accepted. You will also receive a letter if we are unable to include your presentation in this year’s Annual Conference Program.
