ZRA Annual Conference : Overview

The Zoological Registrars Association (ZRA) 2010 Annual Conference will be hosted by the Calgary Zoo, calgaryzoo.org/, September 29 - October 3, 2010. The Annual Conference will begin on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 with the Leadership Development Program and the Certified Records Manager (CRM) Exam Preparation Workshop.  A horseback riding excursion to Griffin Valley Ranch will also be available that day for guests and all others who want to attend.  The Icebreaker will commence that evening at the Big Rock Brewery www.bigrockbeer.com.  





General sessions open on Thursday, September 30, 2010, and continue on Saturday, October 2, 2010.   ZRA general sessions feature topics from four categories of presentations under Record Keeping, Permits and Wildlife Legislation, Animal Transport and Records and Collection Management. Possible topics from each of the four categories will include presentations on ZIMS; ARKS; animal transactions; permit applications; roundtables on permit issues; legislative updates; policies and procedures; accreditation; collection management; disaster preparedness; archives management; records retention, protection and disposal.  ZRA offers a variety of formats for presentations including individual papers, workshops, panel discussions and poster presentations. Zoo Day will held on Friday, October 1, 2010 and will culminate with a guest speaker that evening.  There will be an optional event offered Saturday including 5 Pin Bowling and shopping and the Annual Conference will end on Sunday with a post-conference tour to Banff National Park. www.banfflakelouise.com/.
